ParticipantWe are recruiting any person who would be interested in traveling to Soddo Ethiopia to assist in installing a medical gas system for a mission hospital there. Its higher-tech mechanical, oxygen and air plumbing, brazing, and electrical work. Any mechanical experience is good, but not necessary.
Barring any lockdowns in country that would prevent us from traveling within country, we will be leaving around November 1st and returning about November 22nd. (lockdowns interrupted the last trip to Uganda, but doesn’t seem nearly as likely this time). All expenses including flights, housing, food, etc are covered. We just need three weeks of your time. If anyone is actively looking for a job / work, we may even have funding to pay you as a worker during this time if needed.
This hospital provides much needed trauma and medical care to vast amounts of very remote parts of Ethiopia. They pray for and openly give the gospel of Jesus to any patient that walks through their doors and we have seen the least of these consistently find rest and shelter at God’s table through their work. The missionaries there have been praying for and investing for permanent medical gas installation at this hospital for nearly 6 years. We are thrilled to be a part of it and would love to have anyone else along that supports it.
If anyone can’t go this late notice, but is interested in future trips, please also let me know. We have designs being made for hospitals in Niger, Uganda, Liberia, and Kenya. Christian agencies / funding are coming from SIM, Samaritan’s Purse, ABWE, EMI, and USAID.

ParticipantNoah,
Do you need to be vaccinated to travel there?
Thanks!

ParticipantWell…. I am no expert on this as it changes all the time and I haven’t been to Ethiopia since before this Covid began. All I can say is that when our previous team went to Kenya a couple months back, they were not needed and the airlines / European governments only cared about negative tests within 72 hours. I got the vaccine in the hopes that travel would be easier, but it seems thus far that has not been the case. They seem still want negative tests everywhere you go. The rest of my family has not so…. yeah. regardless. I would have no qualms trying to travel with someone who didn’t want to get the vaccine unless we were certain it was required at some point. I don’t really care either way.

ParticipantThanks Pat / Joe. No hurry on timeframe. Take all the time you need to pray about it. The pipe we are shipping to install is a bit delayed anyways so we may be an extra week out anyways.
